Shipping Container Chemical Storage - Railway Weed Sprayer
Our client required a very unusual unit to solve a weed problem on the railways. This conversion for shipping container chemical storage and distribution was designed and built to very precise measurements as it was going to be located on the back of a train, that in transit will release and spray weedkiller onto the side of the tracks. In order for the container to safely fit and be transported on the train, we had to take an ISO Container and modify the height from the standard 8ft 6in, down to 7ft 2in.
The container was built keeping the original container doors (just a little shorter!), with a personnel door fitted inside one of the doors for ease of access. This door had an emergency access release button for safety reasons. Air vents were fitted both to the doors and the container walls to provide low level air intake, and apertures were also created for the customer to fit equipment and exhausts to later. The bottom of the container floor was modified to the customer’s specifications to cover the weight load of their generator and then overlaid with anti-slip aluminium tread floor plate. The container was repainted internally and externally, the CSC plate fitted, and it was ready to go! Due to the nature of the work, the unit’s design and build had to be tested and approved, in order to be certified to ISO668. This also means that if our client requires additional shipping container chemical storage, as long as they build to the exact design again, the unit will already be certified.
