40ft Container - Christmas Lights Storage

After 27 years of Thornton le Dale’s community Christmas lights display, they lost their use of two donated storage containers to store the lights, decorations and event equipment. Thanks to some timely lottery funding and local fundraising, the Christmas Lights Committee were able to purchase a 40ft, cladded tunneltainer – a container with a set of doors at each end to make loading and unloading easy, and so you can access items from either end!

As the container was being kept in a conservation area, in order to meet strict planning permission requirements of North York Moors National Park Planning Authority, the container had to be cladded and installed with a sloping roof. A sloping roof is both practical and aesthetic, preventing water from hitting the flat roof and keep the water angled away from the door. The cladding used was Waney Edge cladding, designed to help the container blend into its surroundings. And we think it did a wonderful job!

In addition to the exterior alterations, to ensure condensation-free conditions for long term storage, we also ply lined and insulated inside the container.
