Container Pop Up Cafe Cladded
The Trudy Scrumptious Cafe is a 20ft container conversion residing in the beautiful rural location of Tavistock Meadows, Devon, serving home made ice cream, cakes, toasted sandwiches, tea and coffee.
This conversion project is a great example of a container pop up cafe cladded to fit the aesthetic of its environment – it was designed to blend into the countryside in order to meet stringent planning approval requirements. Trudy Scrumptious needed something secure and anti-vandal, but also required the unit to suit the aesthetic of a countryside attraction. For this project, we converted a once-used 20ft container and clad the outside completely in rustic cladding. We welded the original container doors shut and instead added a personnel door for easier access into the container. To complete the pop-up look, we fitted a 2m long x 1.3m high set of shutter doors for serving, set out from the container so they would lie flat against the cladding. These shutters were painted black, and Trudy uses them as menu boards when the container is in use.
For the inside, we lined the container in wipe clean melamine – our favourite for catering conversions – and fitted electrics to the container including lights, double sockets, external hook-up and consumer unit ready for Trudy to add in the kitchen fittings in situ.
Trudy Scrumptious are doing good business from their cafe and they have planned it as a long term fixture in Tavistock Meadows. Many of our catering conversion clients chose this option, such as the Ferryboat Inn on Hayling Island. However, with a pop up style conversion, the option always exists for quick and easy relocation.
